Marco Asensio will attempt to get his career back on track after falling out of favor with Luis Enrique at Paris Saint-Germain. As a result, it led to his winter transfer window move to Aston Villa.
Asensio will remain with the Premier League club through the end of the 2024-25 season, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Aston Villa will pay his full salary until June. However, there is no option to buy included in the deal.
Duncan Castles added more details, revealing that Villa specifically chose not to include a buy option. Castles also noted that PSG had asked for a loan fee, but Villa hesitated because of concerns about staying within Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) limits.

According to a report from Football Insider, Unai Emery and Aston Villa’s coaching staff have been impressed with Marco Asensio’s performances in his two solo appearances for the club.
Moreover, the English club could look to make his move permanent. Former Premier League scout Mick Brown also mentioned that club officials are leaning toward adding him permanently at Villa Park.
“He’s a player with proven ability at the very top level,” Brown said. “The clubs he’s been at in his career, he’s got plenty of experience with the very best sides, and that can only come as a boost to Villa and their European hopes.
“I’m not sure why PSG have been so keen to offload him, whether he’s been carrying an injury or there were other issues, but they are looking to move him on. Since he came to Villa though, I’ve heard nothing but good things about him.
“On the evidence of what I’ve seen in his couple of appearances, he looks perfect for Villa. I think Emery and his staff will have been impressed as well, and they’ll already have started working behind the scenes to see if they can make the move permanent.”
