Nantes owner and president Waldemar Kita has strongly denied to Presse-Océan that Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (25) was in talks with him to take over Les Canaris through his father’s investment firm. L’Equipe broke the news this morning that the England international intends to purchase the 8-time French champions and even submitted a €100m bid.

A rather agitated and furious Kita denies in the strongest terms L’Equipe‘s piece, despite the sports daily maintaining their story. “This is all bullshit! Where does that come from? How do you expect a serious man who wants to purchase a club to use a journalist? Trent Alexander-Arnold? But I don’t even know him!” The 71-year-old Nantes chairman, who made his fortune by founding and selling pharmaceutical companies reportedly asked his lawyer for some info on the Liverpool academy graduate. “He told me his father was involved in finance and that they have players as well as agents. I’ve never done any videoconference with anyone, ever. It’s nonsense. How can you even in this business, with such sums?

Kita also used a personal example to deny the story. “When I sold my company (Vivacy), no one was in the know, not even the personnel. That’s business. It’s a ploy to hurt and disrupt. It’s not serious.” The Nantes president hinted that an official rebuttal statement might be released in the next hours.
