Asked why the Nerazzurri faithful should stay optimistic, Lautaro Martinez replied: “Because they should believe in us.

“We’ve always done an excellent job.

“We’ve been working well for years, and they should be confident because this group is solid and always gives everything on the pitch.

“Maybe the results haven’t come lately, but we’re ready for today’s match.

“We talked a lot among ourselves because it had been a long time since we faced a moment like this.

“It’s something personal and we addressed it internally.

“Now we need to step onto the pitch with the right attitude because we are a great team.”

“We wanted to go deep in every competition – the more you play, the better. We have to erase what happened and move forward.”

El Toro believes Inter must return to the mindset that carried them through against Bayern Munich.

“That’s an extra ingredient we need on the pitch.

“In my opinion, if you want it more than your opponent, you have a better chance of winning.”
