Inter Milan Coach Explains Italy Star’s Absence In Serie A Clash Win Vs Genoa: ‘Bit Of A Physical Problem, Hope To Have Him Back Vs Lazio’

Simone Inzaghi says that midfielder Davide Frattesi didn’t feature for Inter Milan against Genoa due to injury.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the match. He said that the team hope to have Frattesi back for Tuesday’s match against Lazio.
Inter Milan managed to go top of the Serie A table with a win over Genoa this evening.
It was an important three points for the Nerazzurri to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Juventus last Sunday. And it turns up the pressure on Napoli for their match against Como tomorrow.
One player who did not feature in today’s match was midfielder Davide Frattesi.
The 25-year-old was not in the starting eleven. Nor did he come off the bench.
This could be seen as a somewhat notable omission. Frattesi is a player who has often been on the margins of the Inter squad, both last season and this time out.
And reportedly, Davide Frattesi has been pushing for an exit from Inter due to this lack of playing time.
However, according to Inter coach Inzaghi, the explanation for Frattesi’s absence is more innocuous than that.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi explained that “Frattesi probably would’ve been the first player to come off the bench.”
“Because this was a classic example of the kind of match where Davide would have helped us.”

“But he had some physical problems. Yesterday in training he was already feeling something, and this evening he started to warm up but then he sat back down because he couldn’t give us his contribution.”
“Then as far as Acerbi, we were waiting for him. He trained, and at the moment we don’t have any injury problems [in defense.]”
“Now, it’s in attack where the injuries have moved to,” Inzaghi noted.
“And we hope that we’ll be able to get Frattesi back as early as Tuesday,” the Inter coach said. That is when the Nerazzurri face Lazio in a Coppa Italia quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi gave his thoughts on Inter being top of the table temporarily after this evening’s win, at least before Napoli play their match against Como tomorrow.
“At the moment, with twelve matches to go, it doesn’t matter all that much,” the Inter coach emphasized.
“We’ve played one more match. Atalanta, Napoli, and Juventus play tomorrow.”
“The other teams have already played,” Inzaghi added. “Fiorentina also have to play.”
“All great teams who, as I said yesterday, will have the chance to try and get back to the top of the table.”
