Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, the 48-year-old manager hit back at his critics after Inter moved four points clear of Napoli.

Carlos Augusto and Lautaro Martinez scored beyond halftime to secure Inter’s eighth consecutive win against Atalanta.

In doing so, the reigning champions left Gian Piero Gasperini’s side six points behind in an intense Serie A title race.

“As a coach, I’m very satisfied with the performance even before the result,” Simone Inzaghi said.

“We came here with personality and could have closed it out in the first half.

“There was the post, Lautaro’s disallowed goal—which maybe was valid—and Frattesi’s chance.

“But we came to play against an Atalanta side in incredible form, and we gave little away to a team that had scored 63 goals, just like us.

“We haven’t achieved anything yet, but these players deserve praise.

“I had six or seven guys getting treatment before we came here, but with this spirit, we can achieve important things.”

Inter Milan Simone Inzaghi Silences Doubters After Crucial Atalanta Win

“Clearly, we played a great game,” Inzaghi added.

“In recent weeks, we’ve been reading all sorts of things, but this team has performances like this in its DNA.

“We were at the end of an exhausting cycle of matches, and I’m very satisfied.

“There are only a few games left, and I can’t ask much more from these guys.”

Then, he explained what it takes to beat a team like Atalanta.

“Against Atalanta, you need many things: running, determination, aggression.

“And, of course, you have to play well technically. The guys did a great job, but every match is different.

“These are always exciting games.

“Tonight was another great battle between two teams that play openly and deserve to be at the top of the table.”

Simone Inzaghi Outlines Inter Milan Ambitions

“We want to play as many games as possible,” the Inter boss continued.

“And we know how football works – there’s a lot of talk about Inter potentially winning nothing, but that’s sports.

“We hear all the debates on TV. We’re happy to be playing so many matches.

“And we had two thrilling games against Feyenoord, and in between, the match against Monza, which caused us problems.

“After the break, we have Udinese and the Coppa Italia. We can’t look back.

“Tonight, we won deservedly against a great team, and we’re happy. We’ll keep moving forward in this direction.

However, Inzaghi admitted these malicious talks don’t bother him.

“Not at all,” he claimed. “I’m the coach, and I know what sports are about.

“We’re not doing calculations – we just want to play as many games as possible until the end of the season.”
