Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi will not be part of Simone Inzaghi’s matchday squad this weekend.
According to FCInter1908, the 36-year-old star will skip Nerazzurri’s upcoming Serie A game against Venezia.
Despite the club’s hopes of welcoming Acerbi back to the fold at the start of 2025, they’ll need more patience.
The ex-Lazio center-back last featured in November’s 5-0 demolition of Hellas Verona.
However, a thigh issue forced him off in the opening 15 minutes.
Though the injury initially didn’t look serious, it has sidelined the veteran ace for two months.
But he’s close to regaining full fitness.
Though Inzaghi can’t count on Acerbi for Sunday’s game, he could see him back on the training ground as early as next week.
Indeed, the left-footed defender could rejoin the group on Monday.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Pavard has recovered from a long-term thigh problem.
Therefore, he’ll be at Inzaghi’s disposal this weekend.
Pavard’s recovery could result in Yann Bisseck’s immediate return to the bench.
The German’s performance against AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final flattered to deceive.
On top of that, the 24-year-old came back from Saudi Arabia with slight physical discomfort.
