Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck admits that his goal against Hellas Verona was quite an incredible fluke.

The German laughed off the goal speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after today’s Serie A win. He said that “God only knows” how he managed to find the back of the net.

Bisseck scored his first goal of the season for Inter today.

The 23-year-old found the back of the net to round off Inter’s 5-0 thrashing of Hellas Verona in their first match back from the international break.

It was a remarkable, even bizarre goal from the Inter defender.

First, forward Joaquin Correa flicked the ball on for Bisseck.

It was not an easy ball for the German to control. He found himself with his back to goal, trying to turn and beat two Verona defender.

There was some space for Bisseck to try and sort out a shot after he turned. But he found himself running out of time and at an awkward angle to get a shot away, and off balance.

Bisseck did manage to get a flick on the ball as he was falling. And this was enough to take it over the head of Gialloblu goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo, before it dipped under the crossbar.

It was a feel good moment for Bisseck and for Inter that capped off a first half in which they had overran Verona.

Asked how he managed to score in the position, Bisseck laughed, “God only kniws.”

“I think I did a very good job to stop the ball and I turned well,” he said.

“And then after that I got a bit of fortune.”

“But I’m very happy to have scored, and for the win,” Bisseck said.

Meanwhile, Bisseck said that he’s happy to have extended his contract with Inter. “When the coach trusts you, it makes you feel incredible,” the 23-year-old said.

“I’m happy to be here,” he added. “And I hope we have a lot of success in the future.”

Of his attacking quality, Bisseck said that “It gives me confidence when I can get forward in search of goals.”

“But that’s also part of my game,” he added.

“I always try to be dangerous and score goals. So today I’m happy it worked out.”

And as far as his occasionally changing positions across the defensive line, Bisseck said that “It doesn’t make any difference to me.”

“In Germany I always played in a back four,” he said.

“If the coach wants to make a change that’s no problem for me.”
