Inter Milan will listen to offers from the Premier League for Denzel Dumfries despite just agreeing a new contract with the wingback.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri could end up selling Dumfries for around €25 million.
Inter and Dumfries have been in contract extension talks for a number of months now.
The negotiations have had their ups and downs. In the spring, it had seemed as though the parties would not be able to reach an agreement on wages.
But then, over the summer, Dumfries made clear his desire to stay at Inter. And this looks to have pushed him to accept an offer from the Nerazzurri.
Inter, for their part, have always been clear in their stance.
Because Dumfries is currently only under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of next June, the club have been wary of the risk of losing the Dutchman on a free transfer next summer.
That is what happened with defender Milan Skriniar in 2023.
But in spite of this, Inter neither sold Dumfries nor secured a new deal this summer.
Inter will avoid the prospect of losing Dumfries for nothing by tying him down on a new deal.
And for his part, the Dutchman will receive a pay increase. His wages will rise to around €4 million net per season, in line with what fellow wingback Federico Dimarco earns.
That does not mean, however, that a departure couldn’t be on the cards in the near future.
As early as next summer, Inter could listen to offers for Dumfries.
For his part, the 28-year-old has made no secret of the fact that, even though he is happy at Inter, he would also welcome a move to the Premier League at some stage in his career.
And there has been some interest in Dumfries in the past from clubs in the English top flight.
All of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Aston Villa have targeted the former PSV wingback at points.
If Inter are to receive a bid for Dumfries, they will certainly listen.
Tuttosport report that the Nerazzurri would expect a fee of around €20-25 million to sell the Dutchman.
Inter are content at having ensured that they won’t lose Dumfries for nothing.
But for the right offer the Nerazzurri would be willing to part ways.
