Inter looked set to widen the gap in the race for the Scudetto after taking an early lead against Napoli.
Federico Dimarco opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half with a well-struck free kick that was fully worth the wait for the reigning champions.
The Nerazzurri had not scored from a direct set piece in Serie A for some two-and-a-half years, when they put Bologna to the sword in an emphatic 6-1 rout.
No prizes for guessing who was the architect of that one, too.
Unfortunate for Simone Inzaghi's defending champions, they were denied victory by their hosts delivering a late leveller to keep the race for the top still a point apart.
