West Ham held talks with former AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca, prior to the Manchester City fixture.
It’s understood that the Portuguese manager was in talks with both David Sullivan and Tim Steidten at the Chairman’s mansion on Friday last week – a day prior to our 4-1 drubbing at the hands of the champions.
It is still believed that Graham Potter is the clubs number one choice to replace Julen Lopetegui, who appears to be heading to the exit following a dreadful first half of the season under his leadership.
The latest news regarding Fonseca though presents a twist and an alternative option to West Ham, should the deal for Potter not be reached, however there is hope that an agreement can be met between all parties.
Talks are ongoing with the former Brighton boss, with the length of contract understood to be a key point to resolve, as the club seek to agree as short term deal with an option for a longer term arrangement.
Julen Lopetegui meanwhile is left in limbo, as it has been reported the Spaniard has taken training today, no doubt fully aware that the club are sharpening the axe as they look to end saga for all parties.
