Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan had an “excellent first half” against Juventus, but paid for their wastefulness in front of goal.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to SporTV after the match, via FCInterNews. He rued the costliness of the chances that his team missed in the Derby d’Italia.
For the third time this season, Inter Milan have slumped to defeat in Serie A.
And unlike in losses against AC Milan and Fiorentina, this wasn’t necessarily the result of the Nerazzurri being second best for ninety minutes.
In the first half in particular, Inter showed their strength. They outclassed Juventus, and created more and better chances.
But that counted for nothing, as the Nerazzurri were unable to find the back of the net with any of the opportunities that they had.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez particularly had some chances where he failed to hit the targets from positions where he would normally do much better.
But the Nerazzurri as a whole just seemed to be lacking something in the final third.

After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi gave his thoughts. “We had an excellent first half,” he said. “We should have taken the lead.”
“But unfortunately we missed too many chances,” the Nerazzurri coach. “And in certain matches, you pay for that.”
“Now we have to move forward,” Inzaghi emphasized.
“We’re there within a few points, and we’ll see what happens.”
As far as possible changes to the team against Genoa next weekend, Inzaghi said “We’ll see.”
“We’ll try to get our strength and energy back. Then we have a very important match next weekend.”
