One player who would add energy and drive to the Manchester City squad is Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. The French international is a player that would could immensely improve Pep Guardiola’s squad. Camavinga is a versatile player who, at 22 years of age, has his best years ahead of him. On paper at least, he’d add what City lack to Pep Guardiola’s squad. But is Camavinga a realistic summer transfer target for Manchester City? He didn’t appear to be, but now that situation may have changed based on a new report.
Ahad Shaukat has reported for CaughtOffside that Manchester City are one of host of clubs that are targeting a summer move for Eduardo Camavinga. Furthermore, Shaukat reports that Bayern Munich and PSG also hold an interest in signing Camavinga. Shaukat further reports that Real Madrid could demand a transfer fee of between €100-120 million to sell the French international. So it does appear that Manchester City still hold an interest in signing Eduardo Camavinga although it would be an expensive move to complete.
Where it gets interesting is a new report from Mike Brown for Football Insider indicates that Eduardo Camavinga is open to the idea of joining Manchester City in the summer. Furthermore, Brown reports that Camavinga has grown frustrated with his role at Real Madrid. Brown adds that the idea of becoming a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s midfield does appeal to the French midfielder.
Mike Brown’s new report does give the impression that the possibility that Eduardo Camavinga could leave Real Madrid is very real. If Camavinga is frustrated with his role in Carlo Ancelotti’s side then he could depart the current European champions. If he does you would expect Manchester City to be at the front of the queue for his signature.
Eduardo Camavinga would add what Manchester City are crying out for. Technically, he is a fine player. He is good in possession and plays with the energy that Pep Guardiola’s side currently lacks. If Mateo Kovacic or Bernardo Silva or both did leave City in the summer, Camavinga could prove to be the ideal replacement given how he plays in midfield. The fact that he could also step in at left-back to give Josko Gvardiol a break when required also adds another layer to the equation.
Eduardo Camavinga ticks nearly every box required of a potential Manchester City signing. The only impediment could be Real Madrid’s asking price. As Ahad Shaukat reports Camavinga wouldn’t come cheap. That may be the deciding factor in whether or not City move for the French international. But it does now seem that there is a chance that Camavinga could leave Real Madrid in the summer. It remains to be seen if it’s a move that Manchester City consider. It does now loom as a story to watch for this summer based on the information provided in Mike Brown’s new report.
