Ruben Amorim has warned Manchester United fans that there will be more pain to come before the end of the season.
Thursday evening’s game against Southampton could have been a welcome opportunity for Manchester United to build confidence with a comfortable win, but it was anything but.
Speaking after the 3-1 victory, in which a late Amad hat-trick saved United, Amorim admitted it will be a difficult season: “I think it’s going to be hard until the end of the season. It’s going to be a rollercoaster. Then it depends on the time you have to train.”
Brighton have been in excellent form, currently five points ahead of the Red Devils and they haven’t lost a game since mid-December.
Fabian Hurzeler is having an excellent first seasonand players like Joao Pedro and Carlos Baleba have really shone.
Amorim, by contrast, has had a difficult start. Although the situation he has come into is more than tricky. United are playing every three days and he has stressed that there is limited time for him to enforce his ideas on the training pitch.
“We are trying to do everything at the same time. We have had seven training sessions together in 14 or 15 games so it’s really hard, but we have to continue and try to win. Sometimes playing good and sometimes playing bad!”
Amorim says tiredness was a factor in the underwhelming performance against Southampton, something he is also taking responsibility for.
“It’s also my fault. If you lose the timing of the pressure, it is lost. Manu (Ugarte) was running against two guys so it’s more my fault than his fault.”
