Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has a £5m release clause in his contract that is expected to become active at the end of the season according to reports.
The Blues made the Spaniard the most expensive goalkeeper of all time when they paid Athletic Bilbao £71.6m for his services in 2018.
The 29-year-old had a good start to life at Chelsea, but it’s fair to say the Blues haven’t got value for money from their investment and are set to make a huge loss.
The Spain international spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions and won a La Liga and Champions League double.
Arrizabalaga had held out hope he would return to the Spanish capital in the summer, but that failed to happen after Andriy Lunin signed a new contract.
He was linked with a move to Saudi side Al-Ittihad before he eventually extended his contract and joined Bournemouth on a season long loan deal .

Arrizabalaga has made five appearances for the Cherries, conceding seven goals and keeping one clean sheet, with the Blues hoping his performances will generate more interest ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
The former Bilbao man is under contract until 2026, but Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill has reported the shot stopped has a £5m release clause in his dea,l which is expected to become active at the end of the season.
Whether Bournemouth or another club takes up that offer remains to be seen, but the Blues will have to fancy their chances at being able to get £5m for Arrizabalaga.
