Former Roma attacker Justin Kluivert – now one of Bournemouth’s brightest players this season – recalled his experience in the Italian capital.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kluivert admitted that his spell in Italy holds mostly positive connotations in his memory.
“I learned a lot at Roma,” he said. “In Rome I lived alone for the first time, in a foreign country: it was like entering the world of adults.”
“Even on the pitch: at Ajax I was always one of the best and played continuously, in Rome I understood that being on the pitch every match is not a given.”
“When I arrived, the coach changed shortly after. And Monchi, the technical director who had wanted me, left after six months. These are things that didn’t help me, but they allowed me to learn a lot. I only have positive memories.”
