Juventus have convinced Ronald Araujo to join and will continue trying to come to terms with Barcelona. The Bianconeri reached a complete agreement on personal terms with the Uruguayan defender, Alfredo Pedullà relays.
The center-back has decided to leave the Blaugrana. He refused an extension because he didn’t like the offer. Plus, he’s keen on a new experience. His stance didn’t change following Inigo Martinez’s injury. He has relayed his decision to a few teammates.
On the other hand, Barcelona could still decide to keep Araujo and deny him the move to Juventus since he’s tied to them until 2026. They’d be doing it against his will and would be in a worse negotiating position in a few months.
The Old Lady has the inside track for David Hancko for the summer and will insist on onboarding him in January already. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Cristiano Giuntoli plots to give Thiago Motta two new center-backs. There hasn’t been a proper opening from Barcelona for their top target yet. Instead, Benfica have taken Antonio Silva off the market despite Jorge Mendes’ insistence.
The Bianconeri could rekindle their pursuit of Fikayo Tomori later on should they miss out on other options even though he has resumed playing regularly under Sergio Conceiçao.
It wouldn’t be the first time they struck a deal with the player first and then worked on his side’s flanks, eventually succeeding despite the hurdles. Still, he has a large valuation and, even if they get creative, one has to wonder where the money could come from.
