With a one-day delay on the initial schedule due to traveling issues, Juventus have finalized the acquisition of Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG. The striker completed the medicals and had his first practice on Thursday. Only the official announcement is missing, Sky informs.
The 26-year-old leaves the French capital temporarily 18 months after a €95M transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. He couldn’t replicate the success he had in the Bundesliga in his home country, notching 11 goals and 7 assists in 54 appearances. He had bloomed at Nantes before heading to Germany, where he hit the net 26 times and dished 17 helpers in 50 games.
Kolo Muani will look to garner more game time at Juventus since he has starred for just 453 minutes so far this season. He last started in early October, was an unused sub in five of the last ten matches he was available for, and wasn’t called up for the past three since his exit had become increasingly likely.
The striker, who has 27 caps and 8 goals with France, lands in Italy after getting close a few times in the past. Per La Repubblica, he had a try-out with Cremonese in 2015 but wasn’t signed. Vicenza tried to put him under contract a few days later, but his father told him to go back home, and he agreed. Milan wanted him to deputize Olivier Giroud in 2021, but he opted to join Eintracht Frankfurt.
Juventus won’t have an option to buy Kolo Muani at the end of the season. The Old Lady will cover his €4M gross wages for the second half of the season entirely, Tuttomercatoweb’s Mirko Di Natale reports.
