Juventus Would Have Trouble Replacing Thiago Motta Now

Juventus have quickly dismissed the notion of an immediate coaching change following the dismal defeat versus Fiorentina, but it might have been more because of a lack of alternatives than due to true conviction, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Bianconeri will continue to evaluate but are unlikely to change their mind. The next couple of games will be pivotal for the short-term future of their bench. The Old Lady would gladly avoid a caretaker manager. On the other hand, it’d be tough to lure an established one without the certainty of making the Champions League. More importantly, most of their targets are under contract.
Among the options attached to them, Juventus could only turn to Roberto Mancini or Igor Tudor at the moment. Instead, they’d have to wait for Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini, or Stefano Pioli. The prospect of elevating Next Gen manager Massimo Brambilla or the Primavera one Pietro Magnanelli isn’t particularly enticing.
Paolo Montero, who helmed the side for two matches after Massimiliano Allegri was sacked last season, is under contract after being ousted from their Serie C side earlier in the year. Thiago Motta hasn’t entirely lost the locker room, but the players have progressively grown distant from him due to his brusque methods, questionable choices, and lack of empathy.
The only one who could perhaps take the job is Tudor, who did it at Lazio last year and probably wouldn’t turn up his nose at the opportunity unless he has a concrete promise for the future. Still, the call is too monumental to just go with the best available now, especially if they think they have a shot at somebody elite.
