In his latest press conference ahead of the Wolfsburg game, Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač provided a squad health update and touched on how vital Saturday's game is for their ambitions.

"It looks like we won't have Maxi Beier with us tomorrow. The rest, with the exception of Nico Schlotterbeck, are in the squad.

“We know the importance of tomorrow's game. For us, it's about three very important points. VfL is very dangerous away from home, so we have to be careful. We want to unleash a force together with the fans that will make it difficult for the opponent,” Kovač explained.

The 53-year-old made no bones about it that BVB are reliant on other teams' results as much as their own as the hunt for the final European football places turns up a notch.

"Of course, we're dependent on other games. We have to do our homework and perform with the same energy as in recent weeks.

"The situation after my arrival wasn't easy. But the boys have been developing very well since then. If we achieve our goals at the end of the season, we would be very satisfied," Kovač said.

Julian Brandt was also subjected for some praise after an upturn in performances, particularly against Hoffenheim last weekend.

"I've always seen Julian play well, or rather, decently. Recently, he needed a break. He had many good moments against Hoffenheim, which show his qualities. I hope he performs just as well in the next three matches," he said.
