The emergence of Raul Asencio as a reliable option in defence at Real Madrid has been one of the major stories of the season.

In a short time, the 22-year-old has established himself as a key player for Los Blancos, delivering solid displays at the heart of the defence, unfazed by the level of opposition.

Real Madrid, themselves, are amazed by how Asencio has adapted to the demands of first-team football, having been playing for Castilla and the club’s C team not so long ago.

The youngster’s rise has not only led to him earning a Spain call-up this month, but also attracted interest from top clubs across Europe.

Liverpool, AC Milan eyeing Asencio

PSG have already been credited with interest in Raul Asencio, but according to Edu Aguirre on El Chiringuito TV, Liverpool and AC Milan are also showing an interest in the Real Madrid youngster.

Indeed, as per the journalist, both Liverpool and Milan are hoping that Asencio does not sign a new contract with Los Blancos, with his current one set to expire in 2026.

Liverpool might be in need of defensive reinforcements come summer with Virgil van Dijk’s future uncertain as his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Ibrahima Konate will enter the final year of his deal and is yet to sign an extension either. Interestingly, Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Frenchman’s situation.

Meanwhile, AC Milan may be looking for a revamp of their squad after what has been a disappointing season thus far, which would explain their interest in Asencio.

As such, both Milan and Liverpool are hoping that Asencio does not sign a renewal at Real Madrid, leaving the door open for them to try and swoop him away in the summer.

Liverpool, Milan set to face disappointment

However, the two interested parties are set to face disappointment in their pursuit of Asencio.

Indeed, the 22-year-old Spanish centre-back has no intentions of leaving Real Madrid anytime soon and as reported earlier today, is closing in on signing a long-term contract with the Spanish and European champions.
