Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté (25) is targeted by Ligue 1 champions PSG and the France international is tempted to return to his Parisian hometown, according to ESPN. Konaté is a Paris FC youth product. He then joined Sochaux’s Academy before signing his first professional contract with RB Leipzig, where he rose to prominence. The defender then joined Liverpool in 2021 over a €40m move. With the Reds, Konaté established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the world alongside Virgil van Dijk. Konaté’s development has not gone unnoticed in France. The 25-year-old is a regular starter for Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus, a national team he also captained.

Konaté is tied with Liverpool over a five-year contract set to expire in 2026, which means the Reds are expected to extend his contract or sell him in the summer when his value remains high. Konaté has confirmed Liverpool offered him a new contract, but he is yet to put pen to paper. ESPN understands that PSG are keen to rejuvenate their defensive options as stalwart Marquinhos will turn 31 this year. Signing Konaté would allow Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens to prepare for a long-term future without the Brazil international.
