Real Madrid are eyeing Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold as their top defensive target ahead of the new season and appear set to sign him on a free transfer in June.

That, however, will likely not be the only transaction between the two clubs in the summer as revealed by TEAMtalk in a recent update.

The English outlet relay that Liverpool are, in fact, interested in signing Los Blancos’ Rodrygo Goes should Mohammed Salah leave the club this summer as they see him as an optimal replacement for their talisman.

The full story

Salah is currently in the final six months of his contract in Anfield and is free to negotiate his future with any interested parties.

Given the season he is enjoying for the Merseyside club, it is not secret that they are pushing for a renewal but the player appears reluctant to commit to the same.

Having received interest from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, the winger is seriously considering leaving with Liverpool not making the progress he expects on the renewal front. Rodrygo has thus emerged as a serious option.

The Brazilian star has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time now but has repeatedly quashed the talks and reiterated that his focus is on succeeding in Madrid.

He has managed to prove his worth even after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and continues to be a trusted asset for Los Blancos. However, his not enjoying a regular starting role may create doubts in his mind.

The chance of Rodrygo leaving Real Madrid practically continues to be low, but it cannot be ruled out that the chance to be the protagonist at one of England’s biggest clubs changes his mind.
