Premier League delete statement suggesting Dutchman had received a two-match ban
Arne Slot faces a wait to learn how long a potential touchline ban will be after his red card following the Merseyside derby.
The Liverpool boss approached referee Michael Oliver after James Tarkowski had scored a 98th-minute equaliser for Everton and shook his hand, but was shown a straight red card.
A statement on the Premier League website on Thursday morning suggested that Slot had been handed a two-match touchline ban for his language towards Oliver.
It read: "Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language.
“He is handed a two-match touchline ban as a result."
However, that has now been taken down and reports suggest a decision has in fact not yet been made, with the FA having three working days to assess Oliver’s report before deciding whether to charge Slot.
As it stands, the Liverpool boss is expected to be on the touchline against Wolves this weekend, but there is a risk that the Dutchman could be forced to watch his side’s crucial trip to Manchester City on February 23 from the stands.
If the full three days are used and Slot is not charged until Monday next week, a two-match touchline ban would then be in place for away matches against Aston Villa and City.
Liverpool were furious that Tarkowski’s dramatic equaliser stood following a lengthy VAR review, as they argued Ibrahima Konate had been fouled in the box.
It was a chaotic conclusion to the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, with Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure both sent off after the full-time whistle.
Doucoure celebrated in front of the Liverpool fans and Jones rushed over to confront him, sparking a brawl between both sets of players.
Slot has already served a touchline ban this season, missing Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win over Southampton in December after picking up three yellow cards earlier in the season.
