Liverpool are planning big changes in the striker department. Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are at significant risk of being REPLACED during the upcoming transfer window.

Neither has managed to win over head coach Arne Slot this season, with plans afoot for a new No9. Jota, 28, has suffered another injury-hit season while Nunez simply hasn’t lived up to his billing as the most expensive transfer in club history.

Accordingly, sporting director Richard Hughes is running the rule over several candidates to lead the line next season. Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David, Joao Pedro, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are some of the names in the frame for an Anfield arrival.

Any of those would represent a significant improvement on Liverpool’s current options. And money would be available to spend, given the Reds would expect to bank around £100m between Jota and Nunez.

Don't rule out Viktor Gyokeres for Liverpool

One name which has been frequently associated with Liverpool is that of Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede, 26, has been unstoppable over two seasons in Portugal with Sporting CP.

It is believed he would be available for a transfer this summer and a price tag of €70m has previously been floated. Arsenal are currently said to be in the lead for the former Coventry forward, who has got 95 goals in 100 games for the Lisbon club.

Caught Offside claims talks have reached “an advanced stage” between the Gunners and Gyokeres, with Mikel Arteta’s side in desperate need of a striker.

But the report also adds that Liverpool SHOULDN’T be ruled out and that talks have taken place between the player and the Anfield club.
