Reds dealing with several fitness concerns as they prepare for latest Merseyside derby clash with Everton at Anfield
Liverpool have a potential new injury concern to monitor after their Carabao Cup final defeat by Newcastle.
The Reds were beaten 2-1 in Sunday’s showpiece clash at Wembley, missing out on the chance to claim the first piece of major silverware of the English domestic season as they relinquished their last trophy won under Jurgen Klopp.
Though Liverpool are still firmly on course to clinch the Premier League title this season, they will not add a second prize during Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge after Carabao Cup heartbreak came just days after they were eliminated from the Champions League last-16 stage by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties at Anfield.
Slot’s side now have more than a fortnight to regroup, with their shock FA Cup fourth round exit at the hands of Plymouth last month meaning they don’t play again until hosting rivals Everton in the latest Merseyside derby on April 2. As we head into an international break, here is all the latest Liverpool injury news and return dates.
Harvey Elliott came off the bench with just over 15 minutes to play at Wembley on Sunday, making another impressive impact as he assisted fellow substitute Federico Chiesa’s goal in stoppage time that set up a grandstand finish.
However, he was floored by Newcastle midfielder Joelinton, seeing out the remaining moments but then receiving treatment on the pitch and looking in quite some pain as he was helped away.
Slot was not asked about Elliott’s injury after the game, but he was later seen limping on his way out of Wembley.
Liverpool fans are likely to get an indication of his status with whether or not he withdraws from Lee Carsley’s England Under-21 squad for upcoming friendlies against France and Portugal.

Liverpool were without Trent Alexander-Arnold against Newcastle after he suffered an ankle injury in the second-leg loss to PSG, with Jarell Quansah deputising at right-back as expected.
Slot said before the final that Alexander-Arnold would be back before the end of the season, but he could not be sure exactly when.
“So, Trent is indeed not available,” Slot said. “He will not be there at the final. But he is still to be assessed for how long it's going to take but we do expect him back in the end of the season.”
Potential return date: Unknown
The absence of Alexander-Arnold has been compounded by that of chief deputy Conor Bradley, who has not played since suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 Premier League draw at Aston Villa last month.
Slot said then that the academy graduate would be out for “a few weeks”, adding: “I cannot tell exactly how many, but it is clear that he went off with a muscle injury and that it is going to take a while before he is back.”
The injured Bradley was left out of the Northern Ireland squad for upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Sweden, so he won’t be back in action until April at the earliest.

Continuing Liverpool’s dearth of right-back options, Joe Gomez missed the whole of January with a hamstring injury and then suffered a setback just 10 minutes into his return at Plymouth in the FA Cup.
The England defender underwent surgery and Slot said he would be sidelined for “a long time”, though did add that he could potentially return just before the end of the season.
Potential return date: May 2025
Young midfielder Tyler Morton is currently recovering from a shoulder operation performed in February and it remains to be seen if he will be involved for Liverpool again before the end of the season.
