Manchester City star Jack Grealish has sent a message of congratulations the way of former teammate Julián Álvarez.

This, of course, comes owing to the latter’s heroics in Atlético Madrid’s meeting with Bayer Leverkusen.

Diego Simeone’s troops are fresh off a victory to remember on the continent on Tuesday night.

After welcoming German champions Bayer Leverkusen to Spain’s capital for a Champions League showdown, Atlético found themselves both a goal and a man down during the first-half.

This, though, only served in setting the stage for a spectacular comeback.

After Julián Álvarez first pulled one back for the evening’s hosts early in the 2nd-half, the summer arrival in La Liga proved himself match-winner in the final minutes, courtesy of a composed finish.

Messages of support and praise have since come pouring in for Álvarez, who after a shaky start to life as a Rojiblanco has over recent weeks rediscovered his brilliant best.

And, as alluded to above, amongst those to have revealed his delight for the attacker was ex-Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish.

Taking to the comments section of Álvarez’s latest Instagram post, England international Grealish wrote:

‘What a player you, Juli!’
