Manchester United’s pursuit of Patrick Dorgu could be under threat from Juventus.
The Red Devils have been searching for improvements in the left wing-back department and it seems they have settled on Dorgu as the man to fill the void.
Ruben Amorim’s side have already had a couple of bids rejected for the Lecce defender but continue to hold talks with the Serie A side to find a solution.
It is thought that United are not too far away from Lecce’s valuation as they are only €5 million apart.
Nonetheless, United are not the only team interested in the wing-back as SSC Napoli are also keen on signing him in the summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are now reporting that United could face more competition for the Danish international.
The Italian paper reports that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli “in the last few hours has reportedly made significant moves on the trail of the Lecce winger.”
“The Bianconeri club is moving under the radar so as not to be caught unprepared in the face of Andrea Cambiaso’s possible departure at the end of the January transfer window.”
The outlet admits that while talks are well underway between United and Lecce for Dorgu, “Juve could forcefully enter the scene.”
If Cambiaso were to leave, Dorgu would be an attractive option to replace him due to his familiarity with Serie A.
Lecce are unwilling to give any discounts on Dorgu and while United are making progress, Juventus are “lurking” if the Red Devils are unsuccessful in their attempts to sign the 20 year old.
With three goals this season, the Dane would certainly add an extra attacking dimension to United’s left hand side.
