Manchester United have suffered a huge challenge in their bid to offload Marcus Rashford this month.
AC Milan are heavily linked with a move for Rashford with the player’s agent already in Italy for negotiations.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently dropped a bombshell that Kyle Walker has expressed his desire to leave the club.
AC Milan could be his next destination.
The Athletic have now revealed that the Serie A club can register only one of the two British players as a consequence of Brexit.
Rashford has fallen out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.
He has not featured in any of the previous seven games across all competitions.
The England international is one of the highest earners at United, drawing a heavy paycheck of around £300,000 every week.
Amorim has not changed his stance about Rashford and an exit seems to be a likely option.
AC Milan are serious about signing Rashford, who has been linked with several other European clubs.
Barcelona, Juventus, AS Monaco and Borussia Dortmund have also expressed their interest in the 27-year-old.
West Ham United are offering Rashford a chance to stay in the Premier League but his astronomical wages will be a stumbling block for any club.
Any potential deal may need United to partially cover his wages.
The Red Devils will also want a loan fee to sanction his exit as they did with Jadon Sancho.
Rashford’s exit will make some space in their wage bill and allow Amorim to bring in reinforcements.
Signing a new left wing-back looks to be a priority due to the unreliability of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
It will be a big setback for United if they are unable to offload Rashford this month.
