Manchester United recently made an enquiry about the availability of Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco, according to Tuttosport (page 13).
The Red Devils have had a disappointing first half to the season, but the club have shown signs of progress under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has his sights on reinforcing the squad next year and it has already been reported that he would like a proper signing for the left wing-back role.
Tuttosport now claim that United made an enquiry for Dimarco, but they received a negative response from Inter, who consider him ‘untouchable’.
Dimarco is also pleased to continue with the Serie A champions and talks are underway over extending his contract (June 2027) for two more years.
The 27-year-old has been a key player for the Nerazzurri and he has established himself as one of the best wing-backs in world football at the moment.
The Italian star has eight goal contributions from 18 appearances this campaign, but he has also been brilliant in the defensive scheme of things for Inter.
He has caught the eye with his recoveries, duel winning ability as well as his passing range.
The £49 million-rated star would be a perfect acquisition for Amorim in his 3-4-2-1 system, but United have no chance of persuading him to join them.
We are not surprised over Dimarco’s stance too. Most Italian players prefer to ply their trade in Serie A. The defender is clearly happy at the Nerazzurri.
United need to look at alternative options in the transfer market. Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes is reportedly one of the top names on their radar.
