Manchester City take Plymouth Argyle today at the Etihad Stadium in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Plymouth Argyle booked their place in the fifth round of the competition with victories over Liverpool and Brentford. They’ve been the giant killers of this season’s FA Cup to date, so Pep Guardiola’s side must be at their best to prevent another upset from occurring today. City have beaten Salford City and Leyton Orient to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for today’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury news.

Rodri, John Stones and Manuel Akanji will all miss today’s match for Pep Guardiola’s side. There was positive news regarding Rodri’s recovery yesterday. Manchester City’s midfield general was shown on Manchester City’s official X account ramping up his training which is good news for the world champions. His return remains some way off but he is slowly getting closer to a return to the pitch.

Oscar Bobb has also returned to training. The young winger suffered an ankle injury during his initial comeback from the fractured leg he suffered on the eve of the 24/25 season. Pep Guardiola told the media that Bobb is training but today’s match may come too soon for Oscar Bobb.

Pep Guardiola also informed the media yesterday that Jack Grealish is in doubt for today’s match. The hope is that Grealish can play in today’s match as he needs to get on the pitch to show that he belongs at Manchester City for next season and beyond.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Stefan Ortega: Ortega is usually Manchester City’s FA Cup keeper and I can’t see that changing today.

Rico Lewis: Matheus Nunes did well against Tottenham at right-back but I expect Lewis to start today against Plymouth Argyle.

Vitor Reis: Pep Guardiola talked up Reis’ talents yesterday so he should start today’s match.

Nathan Ake: Today’s game should see Nathan Ake start alongside Vitor Reis in the heart of City’s defence.

Nico O’Reilly: With Josko Gvardiol needing a rest today’s match could be the ideal setting for Nico O’Reilly to be given a chance to impress.

Nico: The Spanish midfielder is becoming a key contributor to Pep Guardiola’s side. Starting today will allow him to play another crucial game to adjust to life under Pep Guardiola and at Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva: Bernardo didn’t start against Tottenham so that should see him start in midfield today.

Kevin De Bruyne: Today’s match could be the ideal setting for De Bruyne to wind back the clock.

James McAtee: McAtee is another Manchester City youngster who needs minutes to develop and impress. That opportunity should arrive today.

Savinho: If Grealish isn’t fit enough to start I expect to see Savinho start on the left wing.

Omar Marmoush: I’d be surprised to see Erling Haaland start today so that should allow Omar Marmoush the chance to impress as a number 9 today.
