Manchester United have confirmed forward Marcus Rashford’s departure to Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season (via the club’s official website)

Manager Ruben Amorim has deemed Rashford surplus to requirements, making it easy for Villa to negotiate with Man United.

They have the option to make the move permanent for £40 million in the summer, giving them the advantage of securing his signature permanently.

Villa will pay most of Rashford’s salary, smoothening their negotiations with United for the England international.

The 27-year-old is happy to join Villa. The chance to play in the Champions League, where Villa have progressed to the round of 16, made the move attractive to him.

Villa lost Jhon Duran to Saudi Pro-League (SPL) club Al-Nassr and had been exploring the market for a replacement for him.

Manager Unai Emery has been pushing for the English forward’s signature. He believes he is ‘one of the world’s most dangerous attacking players’.

Rashford has struggled since last term, but Emery believes he can help him rediscover his best form.

The versatile forward has been linked with Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona, but none can afford to pay a sizeable portion of his wages.

It is unclear whether his departure will help Man United sign another forward before the transfer window closes today.

They have been linked with Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku, Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey and Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.

The move for Tel has ‘completely collapsed’ after negotiations between United and Bayern broke down.
