Ruben Amorim needs full squad available as fixtures pile up thick and fast
The former Sporting coach started his reign in charge of the club with an underwhelming 1-1 draw with Ipswich on Sunday.
Where that was something of a free hit, Amorim now faces the reality of trying to yield a vast improvement out of this side all while attempting to compete across a number of different fronts.
United host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday before welcoming Everton in the Premier League on Sunday as they look to settle into Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system.
In order to get the very best out of this squad, Amorim will need every player available for the packed schedule to come. Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo and Tyrell Malacia all returned to the squad on Sunday to at least offer some respite on that front.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester United injuries…
Lisandro Martinez sat out the draw with Ipswich due to a back problem he suffered during the win over Leicester before the international break.
The defender pulled out of the Argentina squad and his return date remains unclear.
“We didn’t expect the case of Lisandro,” said Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni.
“We saw that he had suffered a blow to his back, but apparently, he had no problem, just pain. When he arrived here, the pain increased a bit, he underwent tests and is not fit to be here.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Leny Yoro is yet to make a competitive appearance for United after needing foot surgery on a problem picked up during pre-season.
The former Lille defender, however, is thought to be back in training as he closes in on a comeback.

Potential return date: November/December 2024
Harry Maguire hasn’t played since the draw with Aston Villa in early October after suffering a calf problem.
Before leaving the club earlier this month, former interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed the England defender was still training away from the group – perhaps suggesting a return is some way off.
Potential return date: December 2024
Another defender in Victor Lindelof limped out of Sweden’s Nations League win over Slovakia over the international break.
Reportedly having suffered a hamstring injury, the 30-year-old missed the draw with the Tractor Boys.
