Manchester United and Liverpool are showing strong interest in Xavi Simons, and any transfer involving the Dutch midfielder could benefit Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG sent Simons on loan to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, and while he no longer plays for the French club, they still stand to profit from his next move.
As part of the transfer agreement, PSG included a sell-on clause that could earn them additional money beyond the initial fee. According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United may have the edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.
Fabrizio Romano reported that the deal is complete, with Leipzig paying €80 million in total—€55 million up front and the rest in add-ons. Simons is under contract through June 2027, but with several top clubs keeping tabs, his long-term future remains uncertain.

According to Kicker (h/t ESPN), RB Leipzig are open to listening to reasonable offers for Simons, though no clubs have come forward with interest so far.
Recently, former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown says Arne Slot is pushing Liverpool to make a move for Simons as soon as the summer transfer window opens.
“Liverpool are looking at a deal to sign Xavi Simons,” Brown told Football Insider. “It’s always a positive when the manager knows a player well, and I believe he does here. [Slot is] the real driving force behind the move and that’s important because he knows the way he plays, the positives and negatives to his game and what he would bring to the side.
“He’ll know where he would fit into his system, and believes he would be an upgrade on what they’ve got. Liverpool’s scouts will have had a look at him as well to back up the manager’s opinion. Liverpool have got to be careful because they’ve got a very good side who have won the league, and now they have to think ‘how do we get better?’
“It’s easy to say, but very difficult to do, you have to find the right options. If Slot is a fan of Simons and believes he would be the right fit, then I’m sure he’s a player they’ll go for.”
