The 39-year-old earned his first win as United boss on Thursday night, as Bodo/Glimt were beaten at Old Trafford, but it was another topsy-turvy game in which they took an early lead onto to fall behind 20 minutes later. A Rasmus Hojlund double secured the three points in the Europa League.

Amorim has been tasked with implementing a style of play after predecessor Erik ten Hag failed to do so in over two years in charge, and has taken what is being described as a "modern" approach to coaching on the training ground.

According to The Telegraph, Amorim has appointed specialised coaches for each key department.

Amorim Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro, Paulo Barreira and Jorge Vital, with him from Sporting Lisbon and each have been assigned to work with either the defenders, midfielders or forwards. Vital is the goalkeeper coach.

The report adds that Amorim believes the more departmental approach to coaching will help the players adapt to this new way of playing in a 3-4-3 formation.

Amorim recently explained: Instead of video, we do it like walking – and jogging – it’s a way to do it. Showing some video. Then we have all the staff.

"For example, Carlos is with the strikers. They will show individual moments. So we will try to cope with that. Everyone has a job in the staff and they are more important maybe than me.

“Try to see the game and what is missing. They are very good players, they need to believe and we will show individual stuff. Team stuff. And if you cannot run, you can jog."
