Spanish defender Mario Hermoso spoke to the media in the post-match presser following Roma’s defeat to Como.
At full-time, Hermoso said of the match, “There are games like this one where you can’t unlock the game when you deserve to because you’ve created several chances like in the first half.”
“Then in the second half you fail to understand the importance of not conceding goals and defending strongly, especially at the end of the game against an opponent at home who tries to push until the end.”
“We need to be more determined in both areas of the pitch.”
“The settling in is going gradually, in the last few weeks I have been out due to injury. It is a different league to the Spanish one, I am settling in. It is clear that it is not ideal to start a new project and change three coaches in a short time.”
“But we must take accountability for this situation, also because to a large extent it has depended on us. Now we just have to look forward to start playing football again that allows us to get closer to winning.”
“The goal must be to go as far as possible in the three competitions.”
“Replacing Hummels at the last minute? These are situations that happen in football, it’s never pleasant and it’s somehow unexpected. To be able to perform at the highest level and at a high pace, you need the pace of the game and knowledge of your teammates.”
“Unfortunately, I haven’t had the fortune of playing two full games from the start yet. I miss that pace of play and competition.”
