Marotta Denies Bankruptcy Risk and Meddling on Paratici

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta opened up about the financial tribulations the clubs went through and downplayed some murmurs attending the event “Il Foglio a San Siro” (via Sky).
“A lot has been said about our balance sheets, which is part of Italian culture of envy. Whoever is successful is subjected to it, but it’s wrong. We have never risked to go bankrupt. We have a bond that we control very well and don’t have outstanding debts toward suppliers or banks. Otherwise, we couldn’t register to Serie A. We respect all the necessary parameters, or we woud have been fined. We pay wages and taxes regularly. It’s a cliché to mistake difficulties that were above ahead to the ordinary management of the team.”
Marotta specified that he never interfered with Milan potentially hiring his former right-hand man Fabio Paratici.
“It’s an urban legend. How is it possible to imagine that I could influence their owner, president, CEO, or all their people who are competent in the matter, or that they could even wait for my advice? Even should that be true, what would the accusation be? If he’s appointed, I’d be happy because I’d be more motivated, which would then result in me getting angrier.”
Marotta addressed the result versus Bayern Munich.
“We deserved to win in the first leg, but we can’t forget that we have an important game versus Cagliari coming up. Your brain and body need to be connected in order to measure up. It’s an easy match just on paper. We’ll have to play with the same determination we had in Germany.”
