Marquinhos makes PSG history in victory over Lille | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain continued their dominance in Ligue 1 on Saturday, on the same day their veteran captain achieved a historic first for the club.

Marquinhos (30) netted his first goal of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign in their 4-1 victory at home to Lille OSC.

He became the first player in this club’s history to score in 10 different Ligue 1 seasons, surpassing the mark previously set by Algerian midfielder Mustapha Dahleb (nine).

Since coming to Les Parisiens ahead of the 2013-14 season, the Brazilian has only been held off the scoresheet in two Ligue 1 campaigns, with the other being in 2017-18.

He didn’t have any goals for AS Roma or Corinthians in two domestic competitions before coming to the French capital, playing one club season in Italy and Brazil, respectively.

Marquinhos has lifted over 30 trophies during his time at PSG, including nine Ligue 1 titles. He was a part of Corinthians’ 2012 Copa Libertadores triumph but was an unused substitute in the final versus Boca Juniors.

His last goal for the Brazilian national team came in a September 2023 World Cup qualifier against Peru, when he netted the only goal in their 1-0 triumph.
