Milan booked their spot in the Supercoppa Italiana final after rallying for a 2-1 comeback victory on Friday.
Scorer: Yıldız 21'; Pulisic 71' (P), Gatti 75' (OG)
It was a tense atmosphere at Al-Awwal Park in Saudi Arabia as two Serie A giants toyed with each other, each hoping to capitalise on a mistake. And that turned into the theme of the game.
Juventus were hit with an injury blow during warm-up and Francisco Conceição was dropped for Kenan Yıldız. The Turkish attacker then repaid his manager by drilling home the opener at the near post for his fifth goal of the season.
The strike was the first conceded under new Milan manager Sérgio Conceição, who was making his club debut. However, his new introductions and the in-form Christian Pulisic's return failed to ignite a spark with only two shots.
Juventus continued to threaten for a second goal minutes after the restart, with Yıldız and Dusan Vlahovic keen to test Mike Maignan, but each fell short. Those missed opportunities then came to haunt them
Minutes after Theo Hernandez skied a potential equaliser over the bar, some luck struck for Milan in quick succession.
A sloppy error from Manuel Locatelli brought down Pulisic and the American stepped up and slammed home the penalty right down the middle for 1-1. Then in a flash, a wild deflection turned things 2-1.
Yunus Musah picked up the ball and attempted to send in a cross. The ball, however, deflected off of a very unlucky Federico Gatti and curled wide out to the right before bouncing in beyond goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who was well off his line.
The comeback victory means Milan will now face rivals Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana final. Such an event has only happened twice before (2011 and 2022).
