Milan manager Sergio Conceciao is said to believe that goalkeeper Mike Maignan is overweight and that has hampered his agility between the sticks.

As reported by La Repubblica (via Calciomercato), this is not only the case with the goalkeeper, but also several other members of the squad who weigh upwards of 90 kilograms. Under Conceciao, the players weigh themselves everyday in training and also undergo tests on various parameters such as the quality of their sleep. This test has also seemingly shown less than desirable results in many members of the squad. Maignan has kept 10 clean sheets and conceded 30 goals in 27 league games this season. As it stands, there has not been any development in talks of renewal of his contract which ends in 2026. Conceciao was appointed in December of 2024, making an early impact, winning the Super Coppa Italia. Since then though the Rossoneri have struggled, leading to the Portuguese manager calling for his team to end the season with dignity.

Any hopes of getting in the top 4 that Milan would have harboured have disappeared now, with 4th place Juventus now 11 points ahead of them with 11 games to go. The only saving grace seems to be the Coppa Italia semi-finals where they face Inter in two derbies next month.
