MN: ‘Transforms himself’ – why Milan are confident the goals will come for Gimenez | OneFootball

Santiago Gimenez has scored a respectable three goals since joining AC Milan in the winter mercato, but there is belief that the Mexican can start scoring more.

In a season where disappointment is almost everywhere, the signing of a big-money striker in January seemed to be the spark for better. Partnering this with the fact that the club won the Supercoppa Italiana earlier in the month, spirits were lifting.

However, the Mexican has struggled to really hit a patch of consistency – an issue which has plagued his teammates as well. There are no signs of him giving up on things though, or vice versa, with the club placing their faith elsewhere.

In fact, it could not be further from the truth.

Gimenez is being heavily backed by the club to shoot himself into stardom and bring the Diavolo with him. So, this is why Sergio Conceicao is considering completely reshuffling his pack to suit the needs of the former Feyenoord man.

For the club, as Milan News write, the striker has had a difficult start to life, and after struggling with a niggle in his opening weeks, he is yet to actually reach his full level. However, it has still remained clear that he presents a serious danger in the opposition box, ‘transforming himself’ in some way.

Of course, there are improvements to be made, perhaps with his work level and his work with his back to goal. Nevertheless, the base for a star is there, and now, with time on the training pitch, the club believe they will see this more.
