Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah revealed that he and his teammates have let the pressure of leading the Premier League title race "get to us" in the past, creating a whisper of doubt despite his side's commanding lead at the division's summit.
Salah scored Liverpool's opener and created Dominik Szoboszlai's second goal in a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday which took the Reds 11 points clear of Arsenal. The Gunners had been consigned to a bleak 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham United 24 hours earlier, ensuring that almost everyone had effectively crowned Liverpool top-flight champions three months early.
Despite their swollen lead, Salah warned: "Hopefully we keep calm because sometimes the pressure gets to us. We try to win each game."
At this stage of last season, Liverpool also led the Premier League, boasting just one fewer point compared to this term's team. However, Jurgen Klopp's final side dropped ten points over their final 11 games of the campaign, eventually slumping to third in the table behind City and Arsenal.

Liverpool have only won one Premier League crown (2019/20) since the competition's inception 33 years ago. "We need another title," Salah admitted after Sunday's convincing victory. "Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title."
Arne Slot has been at pains to avoid any overreaction, pointing to everything from the fixture list to his own Premier League experience as a factor to be wary of. However, after watching his side dismantle the defending the champions while scarcely breaking out of second gear, the Dutchman admitted: "We are in a good position."
That optimism didn't last long as he quickly cast his gaze towards Liverpool's upcoming fixtures: "Now we play Newcastle on Wednesday, who we drew 3-3 with. In every other league, having a lead like this would be comfortable.
"Three days ago we had a draw at [Aston] Villa and people told me we weren't in a good place and then three days later we win and it changes again. We work every single day to achieve this and it is three months of very hard work to maintain this. There is no secret. We are 11 points clear but Arsenal has one game in hand."
