Moretto: Abraham ‘highly unlikely’ to earn Milan stay – the reason why | OneFootball

Tammy Abraham’s future at AC Milan has constantly shifted, with the Englishman seemingly more likely to stay than leave at one point. This is no longer the case though, it appears.

There are already plans being made for the summer, and after the investment into Santiago Gimenez, it would be understandable if there was to be lesser money available for investments up front. So, Abraham is likely to be a victim of this.

Since joining at the end of last year’s summer mercato, the striker has performed in waves, even becoming the first choice at one point. However, he has now fallen back to being the third option, and this is enough for Milan to probably look elsewhere.

According to Matteo Moretto (via Garante_Il on X), it is ‘highly unlikely’ that the club will make a move for him, meaning a return to Rome is likely. A swap deal with Alexis Saelemaekers was considered previously, which would eliminate the transfer fee. However, the reasoning why remains financial.

The journalist states that the striker’s €6 million net salary would be difficult to add to the current wage bill, especially with no Champions League football next year. Something which makes a move ‘practically impossible’ to imagine.
