The 21-year-old was sensational for the Addicks on Tuesday evening as his side ran out 2-1 winners away to Mansfield Town.
Nathan Jones has praised Charlton Athletic's Tyreece Campbell for his performances since the 51-year-old arrived at The Valley, as the southeast London side closed the gap to the top two on Tuesday evening.
The Addicks ran out 2-1 winners on the road against Mansfield Town, with goals from Matty Godden and their young star, Campbell, coming either side of a Matthew George Craig equaliser.
It was a significant victory for the team, who are currently fourth in the League One table, and it has seen them close up to both Wrexham AFC and Wycombe Wanderers, as they were both held in their clashes with Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town respectively.
Just six points separate Charlton and the automatic promotion places now, and more performances like the one at Field Mill on Tuesday from their number seven will only see the Red Dragons' advantage shrink in the final month of the season.
It was a fantastic victory for the Addicks over Mansfield in the East Midlands, as they picked up their 15th win in 22 games to continue their push for the top two.
This run of form has also seen the gap to those fighting it out for a play-off spot in League One increase to 10 points with six/seven matches remaining for sides in the third tier, and it looks incredibly likely that the Londoners will have a shot at promotion to the Championship this season.
This is in part due to the performances of Campbell, with the 21-year-old having his breakout year at The Valley, and his manager, Jones, singled him out for praise following Tuesday's win.
Speaking to Charlton's in-house media, he said: "It was very hard fought. There were so many pleasing aspects in terms of showing character, coming to a really difficult place to play. The crowd were up.
"They were really aggressive, fair play to them. They came after us. I thought we started quite well but then we weren’t really us. I didn’t feel we were relentless enough and that let them back into it but they deserve a lot of credit for that. But then second half we were a lot better."
Jones continued: "We made a few positive changes, for what we needed. Got the great goal by TC [Campbell] and then saw the game out really, really well. I’m really pleased because any win at the minute is excellent and this is a tough, tough place to come.
"I’ve been pleased with Tyreece Campbell since I came into the football club. He gets better, and better and better. It’s a joy to see because I’ve worked in the Premier League and he’s as good as I’ve seen."
After an incredibly disappointing 2023/24 campaign, Jones needed the summer to help spark a change at The Valley, and he has done exactly that with his team looking like the complete opposite of the one that he was left to fix 14 months ago.
The players have bought into his style of play, and he has allowed the likes of Campbell the opportunity to be eccentric on the pitch and show their quality, while also having a level of discipline.
Combined with a constant level of hard work, Charlton look to be the real deal in League One, and both Wrexham and Wycombe will be keeping a cautious eye on their progress as we head into the final month of the season.
If the Addicks can continue this run of form that they are on, there is no doubt that they can close that gap and finish in the top two. But, even if they do fall short, they will be an extremely tough opponent for any side in the lottery of the play-offs.
