Wingback Denzel Dumfries says that he’s “happy” to have committed his future to Inter Milan with a new contract.

The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

Now it’s official. Dumfries has signed a new deal with Inter until the end of June 2028.

Previously, the 28-year-old had only been under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of next June.

Therefore, Dumfries would have been able to leave Inter on a free transfer at the end of this season.

That is certainly not something Inter would like to see.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri have been working to tie Dumfries down on a new deal.

The talks have been reportedly been ongoing for the better part of a week. But this week, Dumfries finally put pen to paper and made it official.

“I’m very happy,” Dumfries said of his new deal.

“Inter are a great club and I feel at home here. I’m happy with the contract extension.”

Meanwhile, Dumfries gave his thoughts on the potential Serie A title implications of this evening’s match against Fiorentina.

“It’s still early,” stressed the Dutch international. “But Fiorentina are doing well.”

“Let’s hope it’s a good match. We need to win.”

“We’ve worked a lot on the tactics for it this week,” Dumfries added.

“We had good training sessions. We’re ready for it.”

Dumfries added to Italian broadcaster DAZN, “Thanks to the coach, the club directors, my teammates, and the fans, that’s why I feel at home here.”

“Today will be a tough match,” he added.

“Fiorentina are a strong side. But we’re charged up.”
