Despite hosts of goalkeepers in Bayern ranks, the 38-year-old shot-stopper is heading to his 15th season with the club. Since signing for the Bavarians in 2011, Neuer won 30 club trophies, including two trebles in 2013 and 2020.

The 2014 World Cup champion played his 750th match at a club level when Bayern avoided a scare against Holstein Kiel on Saturday. The record champions completed the signing for Jonas Urbig, 21, last week. Meanwhile, Stuttgart’s Alexander Nübel still has a contract until 2029 with Bayern Munich.

In an official interview with the club, Neuer expressed his desire to add more trophies to his collection. “I’m still hungry and am looking forward to another year at this special club,” says one of the all-time great goalkeepers. “I really enjoy playing football and want to remain a Bayern player.”

Sporting director Christoph Freund shares the excitement as he praised Neuer’s longevity.  “Manuel Neuer has been setting the bar for goalkeeping for over a decade. We’re delighted that we can chase our goals next season with him as well.”

As for the board member Max Eberl, he is “the best goalkeeper of his generation”. Neuer kept clean sheet in 50% of league games he played this season, but his reckless red card against Bayer Leverkusen cost Bayern a DFB-Pokal exit.
