Newcastle United planning to use Harvey Barnes in swap deal for Villa star | OneFootball

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a swap deal that would see Harvey Barnes move to Aston Villa in exchange for promising midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Despite his potential, Ramsey has found game time limited this season under Unai Emery, who has often favoured Morgan Rogers and Marco Asensio in the starting lineup.

Financial concerns at Villa Park could further pressure the Midlands club to part ways with the young Englishman if the right offer arrives.

Barnes, meanwhile, has struggled for consistent starts under Eddie Howe at Newcastle.

The 27-year-old has featured in 14 of Newcastle’s 30 Premier League games but remains behind Anthony Gordon in the pecking order. Barnes has, however, proven to be an effective option off the bench.

The proposed swap deal would benefit both clubs, with Villa gaining a proven Premier League winger in Barnes and Newcastle signing a talented young midfielder capable of adding depth and creativity to their line up.

Howe is reportedly eager to build a squad with depth and versatility, aiming to challenge for top-four finishes consistently.

As for Villa, the potential addition of Barnes would add attacking flair and experience to Emery’s side, possibly offsetting any loss from Ramsey’s departure.
