Nico Schlotterbeck wasn't pleased with the way Borussia Dortmund played in their 1-1 draw against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday evening.

Borussia Dortmund dropped points at home for the first time in the Bundesliga this season on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by TSG Hoffenheim. Gio Reyna's second-half opener was cancelled out by a late goal from former BVB winger Jacob Bruun Larsen as the two sides had to settle for a point.

After the game, Nico Schlotterbeck pulled no punches when describing Borussia Dortmund's performance against Hoffenheim. The centre-back lamented BVB's lack of control and said it was one of their weakest performances of the season so far.

"Apart from a few away games, that was one of the weakest performances we've put in this season," Schlotterbeck told DAZN. "We lost the ball an incredible amount and had no clarity in our play at all, it was madness at times. We played an incredibly poor game. The goal we conceded after a throw-in should never happen like that. But even if it had stayed 1-0: the way we played, at times without any energy, that's not good enough."

Schlotterbeck had made a miraculous recovery to play from the start against Hoffenheim, having been stretchered off the pitch just a few days ago in the Champions League defeat to FC Barcelona.

Borussia Dortmund are now down to eighth place in the Bundesliga standings and will be looking to end their 2024 on a high this weekend as they take on VfL Wolfsburg away from home. The Black and Yellows have, of course, not won an away game in the Bundesliga since April.
