There was no controversy to speak of with the officiating in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Udinese and Inter Milan.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, praise referee Juan Luca Sacchi for his confident handling of the Serie A clash.

Inter won by the odd goal in a five-goal thriller at the Bluenergy Stadium yesterday.

The Nerazzurri opened the scoring with less than a minute on the clock. It was Davide Frattesi who scored their opener.

The Italian international timed his run well and then finished his chance as Inter cut the Udinese defense open.

The only question mark around Frattesi’s goal was whether or not the 24-year-old was onside.

And referee Sacchi as well as the VAR team quickly confirmed that Friulani defender Christian Kabasele had been playing the Inter midfielder on.

Then, it was veteran former Watford defender Kabasele who headed home Udinese’s equalizer. And the Gazzetta note that there was little to see a refereeing issue with on the Belgian’s goal.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez then scored either side of halftime to put his team in a commanding position.

For the Argentine’s first goal, just before the interval, there may have been a bit of confusion about whether it was his goal or an own goal from defender Jaka Bijol.

But what was clear was that it was a perfectly valid goal.

Then, there was no question of who the scorer of Inter’s third goal was, a vintage Martinez strike.

Once again, the Gazzetta note, it was a clearly valid goal, which Sacchi allowed without fuss.

Substitute Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca bullied virtually the entire Inter defense to score a second for his team late on and set up a nervy finish.

But it was all perfectly within the laws of the game from the former Pisa and Ajax striker.

Lastly, Inter striker Mehdi Taremi managed to put the ball into the back of the net late on. But Sacchi disallowed it for a clear foul in the buildup by the Iranian international.
