Nuri Sahin does not see either team being the favourite as Borussia Dortmund gear up to take on FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The stage is set for a captivating match as Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona get ready to battle it out at the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday evening. This Champions League matchday six will be crucial for both teams in their bid to qualify for the round of 16.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin previewed this crunch clash during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. And while the 36 year old is looking forward to a special game, he has every faith in BVB's ability to come out on top.
"It's a special game for me as Borussia Dortmund coach to play against Barcelona in the Champions League," Sahin said. "We are capable of winning the game, but so are Barcelona. That's why form on the day will play a big role. They press very high, have clear processes in pressing and counter-pressing. Nevertheless, we will be courageous. We won't change our approach."
Barcelona are certainly not in the best of form going into the game. On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund have won all but one of their matches at home this season, with the 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich being the only exception. Hansi Flick's side did hand the Bavarians a 4-1 defeat when the two sides met in the Champions League earlier this season.
Nuri Sahin also heaped praise during the press conference on his former teammate Robert Lewandowski, who has been in stunning form for Barcelona this season. "He is a winner. He defines himself by winning and scoring goals. He's lived for that for years and still plays at a top level. I am looking forward to seeing him again."
