Luis Enrique has extended his contract as PSG head coach, the Ligue 1 leaders have announced. The Spaniard has put pen to paper on a contract set to expire in 2027. The former Spain national team manager is rewarded for Les Parisiens’ development in those last few months. PSG are thought to be enthused with the direction that Luis Enrique has taken the club. The former Barça boss joined the French capital in July 2023 over a two-year deal as a replacement for Christophe Galtier, who was dismissed after only one season in the PSG dugout. In his first season at PSG, Luis Enrique clinched a domestic double and led PSG to the semi-finals of the Champions League, notably after defeating Xavi’s Barcelona in the quarter-final stage.
In his second campaign in charge at PSG, Luis Enrique had to steer PSG in the post-Kylian Mbappé era and, so far, the 54-year-old has conducted himself commendably. PSG top the Ligue 1 standings with a considerable 10-point lead on Marseille. They are also qualified for the Coupe de France quarter-finals. Despite some shortcomings in the Champions League, with losses against Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Atlético de Madrid, Les Parisiens dug themselves out of the drop zone with a memorable 4-2 home win against Manchester City. They will play the play-off round against Ligue 1 rivals Brest.
Luis Enrique’s contract extension was made official this Friday night before Les Parisiens’ home Ligue 1 game against AS Monaco at Parc des Princes, also it has been reported the Spaniard already signed his contract some months ago.
